4. Do I qualify as a Frontline Worker?
People on the frontline include those working in healthcare facilities as well as prevention and protection.
Healthcare facilities: Healthcare facility staff involved in the Frontline response against COVID-19
- Doctors
- Nurses
- Allied Healthcare Professionals (lab technicians, respiratory therapists, radiographers)
- Housekeeping, Cleaning, Waste Disposal
- Other exposed staff (e.g. porters, security, catering, administrative, pharmacists)
- Fallen Frontline Heroes (Deceased workers).
Prevention and Protection:
- Crisis Management employees involved in the frontline
- Security & Emergency Services employees involved in the frontline
- Humanitarian entities and Volunteers involved in the frontline
- Sterilization employees involved in the frontline
Queries on appreciation initiatives:
1. Am I eligible for the Hayyakum Initiative?
The Hayyakum initiative was applicable for the duration of the academic year 2020. The registration for this program is now closed. We have recently announced the Higher Education Scholarship Initiative in collaboration with universities across the UAE for 2021.
2. Who is eligible for the Higher Education Scholarship Initiative?
Frontline workers and their children only, from all nationalities. Spouse and siblings are not eligible.
3. What requirements are needed to apply for the Higher Education Scholarship Initiative?
- Submission must be made directly by the Frontline Hero.
- Documents verifying the Frontline Hero's employment status.
- Documents verifying the relationship between the Frontline Hero and student if the application is for a child of the Frontline Hero.
- Acceptance letter from the chosen local university or college for the course the student wishes to study. If the student has already started the course, kindly provide the enrollment confirmation from the institution and current status of the student.
